Monique I. Peer
Monique I. Peer was President & CEO of peermusic, then called the Peer-Southern Organization, from 1960 until 1981. She was a world traveler and linguist speaking English, French, Spanish, German, Italian and Portuguese. These characteristics were among many which helped her develop the "one world of music" concept which is the heart of the firm's operation. Prior to his death, she traveled extensively on business with her husband, Ralph S. Peer, particularly to Latin America where she was instrumental in establishing strong relations with the Latin music world.
Monique Peer believed that music is as much an integral part of a human being as is breathing, that in fact, it is a natural instinct of life and probably the most fascinating. Anyone connected with the writing, publishing or performance of music is therefore occupied with a most intense and vibrant phase of living.
Mrs. Peer participated actively in developing a number of songs in the Peer catalogue including "Granada", "Love Me With All Your Heart" (Cuando Caliente El Sol), "Babalu", "You Belong To My Heart" (Solamente Una Vez), "Tico Tico", "Bésame Mucho", "Amor", "Winchester Cathedral", "The Three Bells" (Les Trois Cloches), "You Are My Sunshine".
Mrs. Peer held the position of Vice President of the Peer-Southern Organization from 1940 to 1960. Prior to joining peermusic, she worked with Radio Corporation of America (RCA). She passed away following a long illness in Los Angeles, California, in 1987.
