Luis Dartañan Sarmiento (Darta) is a man who loves music and lives surrounded by it. His career in the industry begins in the early 70’s as a manager. A few years later, EMI Odeon hires him for its Artists & Repertoire department, a move that would propel his career in the music industry, and positions him today as the Director of A&R for BMG US Latin. His is a career that encompasses work with many renowned artists and numerous international hits.

At the onset of the 80’s, Darta begins a new phase with RCA Argentina, a company that would later be bought out by BMG.

During his tenure as Director of A&R for RCA Argentina, many renown artists are added to the company’s roster, including Miguel Mateos, Virus, Soda Stereo, Divididos, Los Autenticos Decadentes, Diego Torres, Los Caballeros de la Quenma, Ataque 77, and Marcela Morelo; names that would define the company’s identity for years to come.

Around this time, 1982 to be exact, he begins to develop a career as a composer and is soon one of the most popular and most covered writers of the time. His international appeal reaches a new high when he writes a song titled “A Mover La Colita.” Several artists including Sonora Dinamita, Wilfrido Vargas, Chazz and DJ Juanito have record this work. The last two artists entered the charts in Billboard and remained atop the Top 20 dance Charts and the Top 100. That same year, a song he co-wrote with his wife Virginia Faiad, titled “Y Se Escapo El Amor” was recorded and released by Jerry Rivera (BMG US Latin).

In his most recent endeavor as an executive writer for peermusic, Luis Dartañan Sarmiento brings with him years of experience in the music industry and an outstanding and effective growth as a writer, which will ultimately lead him to the paramount of his musical career.
