Bernadette O’Reilly
“Fiercely talented, dynamic and a winner”, are the words most people use to describe peermusic’s writer, Bernadette O’Reilly. A Brooklyn-native, she began her career in the artist relations division at Spotlite Entertainment where she worked with comics Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld and Paul Reiser. With a greater passion for music, she set her sights on the music industry and landed a job at peermusic. Bernadette worked her way up from Creative Assistant to Creative Director, playing a pivotal role in the careers of many writers. She also secured the first U.S. label deal for UK producers 3 Man Island. Bernadette continued to channel her skills into many different areas. She cultivated many aspiring songwriters as an instructor at the Songwriters Hall of Fame. As Music Supervisor for the independent film, “Crooked Lines”, she showed her ability for creative accuracy.
In 1994, Bernadette formed Nelson-O’Reilly Productions with producer/songwriter, Eve Nelson. The self-contained production company primarily focuses on artist development and discovering new talent among which is artist, Billy Crawford. Nelson-O’Reilly co-wrote his self-titled debut and landed him a record deal with V2 Records. Most recently, Billy Crawford’s sophomore album, Ride, which includes several songs by Bernadette, went platinum in France and will likely make it to double platinum. The talented team of Nelson-O’Reilly continues to work with artists such as Willa Ford (Lava Records) and new signing, Julio.
While running Nelson-O’Reilly productions, Bernadette has also served as Executive Producer for jazz artists, Sarah Brooks & Joe Beck, on their album, What Is My Heart For, and on Sandra Bernhard’s Broadway debut, I’m Still Here Damn It. She is also Manager and Executive Producer on alt/pop artist Poem 27’s new CD, Reading a Masterpiece and has co-written with newly signed artist Ben Jelen (Maverick).
With a proven track record for spotting and developing new talent, Bernadette is now turning her sights back to her own songwriting skills and collaborating with a multitude of artists and songwriters. She is currently represented by 7th Street Entertainment, an independent song placement company in New York City.
