If we go back two generations we find a very musical family consisting of thirteen young stars who all played their own instrument. One of these musical geniuses is our grandmother Betsy Eleonora Vervuurt, born and raised in South America (Suriname). She played the piano, wrote her own songs and even tutored students. Our grandmother gave birth to seven children and one of them is our mother Anita Myrna Chandermannie Chunderbalsing. She also was a musical talent and learnt to play the piano and loves to sing. When we were at the age of fifteen our mother asked GOD to give us an ambition or hobby and not long after music became our daily investment.
Emmanuël
I was born in Amsterdam on the 29th of January 1972, but it all started when we moved to Purmerend when I was ten years old. I use to want to play the piano but when I was thirteen I started to play the organ. After two years of lessons I lost interest and was drawn to other instruments and singing. My mother always used to say I had a beautiful voice and should start singing. I always contradicted her on this until I started to sing numbers of famous artists, then I knew she was right all along.
I was sixteen when David moved to my mothers house (before he had lived with my grandmother) and brought his synthesizer. Edward was a scratcher around this time the three of us started to take an interest in music, so we bought some equipment like a mixer and a drumcomputer and that’s how it all started. We all liked Hip-Hop and Rhythm and Blues. Gradually we began to write songs. David added the instrumental parts, I made the beats and the vocal parts and Edward added the lyrics.
We developed ourselves for over ten years, until we are now able to write on a professional level.
David
My name is David van der Zwan and I was born on the sixth of March 1971. I was raised by my grandparents. When I was seven my grandmother taught me to play the piano and told me one day I would be grateful I could play this instrument and that people would love me for being able to play because it makes them happy to enjoy my talent. These words have always stuck into my mind as well as the occasional pats on my fingers for making a mistake. I’m happy to continue this tradition.
As far as I can remember I wrote my first song at the age of ten for my biological father. When I was thirteen I had organ lessons, which lasted two years. On my fifteenth birthday my grandmother gave me a synthesizer on which I experimented writing songs. Two years later I started living at my mothers house where the real work started: writing songs on the synthesizer with lyrics and vocals. Here is where it all started with me writing the music, Emmanuel doing the drums and the vocals and Edward writing the lyrics. Until this day we still work in the same way and with each song we have a new experience.
Edward
My name is Edward van der Zwan, my artists name is Juice. I was born on the tenth of November in Amsterdam and grew op there for about thirteen years. Together with two other brothers and my sister I was raised by my mother alone. In early childhood I started dancing (electric boogie and breakdance) and performed throughout the country.
My interest in music began to grow by then. I became a DJ and spent a lot of time mixing music. I was fond of Hip-Hop and trained myself in scratching and transforming of records. At the age of sixteen I began to rap and write rap-lyrics, which I still do. I began to experiment musically with computers for which I used a lot of samples and grew to be a Hip-Hop producer and rapper. I focused myself a lot on jazz which can be heard in my style. My aim is to produce artists, see the world and meet and work with many people, because music is a gift of GOD and GOD didn’t just gave man a gift for nothing.
