Abril
In her first record "Que Viene La Bulla!" she collaborated with Luis Miguel del Amargue (the Dominican king of bachata Born on the Island of San Fernando (Cádiz), Abril is an artist just because the land produces them. She always knew that she could sing and she wanted to sing; latin and flamenco rhythms are the base from which she looked for different genres in her repertoire, which she has mostly composed herself.
It is not an easy road and she prepared herself from very young to attain success: "Que Viene La Bulla!", "Que Te Den", "Dicelo a Changó" are just some of the songs that identify her. For Abril each record is a step forward, a new opportunity to show what she carries inside.
In her first record "Que Viene La Bulla!" she collaborated with Luis Miguel del Amargue (the Dominican king of bachata) with whom she sang a duo of "Te Necesito". Abril created ‘rumbachata’, a fusion of rumba and bachata, joining the styles of both sides of the Atlantic, just as the "Cantes de Ida y Vuelta" did for Andalucia - the cultural exchange of the music born on both shores.
Her next step, already as a singer and a peermusic writer, was "Que Te Den!", a record that let her give the screw another turn in her personal search as a creator. "Que Te Den" was her most successful work; this was re-issued with new songs, based on her representing Spain in the 2004 "Viña Del Mar" festival in Chile. Her song "Dícelo a Changó" unanimously chosen by the jury, ended as a semi-finalist in the competition. This gained her recognition in Latin America, and singing on the most demanding stage that an artist can step upon helped convince the Chilean audience. Her record was released in Spain, Chile and Portugal. It was produced by José Manuel Moles and it included the participation of the great guitar player José Luis Encinas.
Abril also composed material for other artists. One of her songs, "Creeme", was included by Los Caños in their record "Los Locos Somos Así" – Pep’s Records, which became gold. She has also written for AGÜITA SALÁ (Alex Ortiz) and her latest sojourn is one of the most popular groups in Spain – "Decai" – a trio she discovered and whose disk is already gold. At present her song "Nena" is the theme song of the popular TV soap opera ARRAYAN. The song is also heard several times in GRAN HERMANO (Big Brother) on TV 5 in Spain.
Abril does not stop, while her eponymous record was being released in Portugal in the Summer of 2005 she was preparing a pop record titled "Corazón", with a complete turnabout style including up-tempo and mid-tempo cuts and ballads; pop with rock touches that will surprise many, and which lets us discover a new facet of Abril’s.
Abril is a polifacetic artist who fearlessly dares it all which, in her case, is easy because she is secure in knowing what she wants and how to attain it.
