If any music-trend has absolutely broken through in almost all of Europe it is the ‘downtempo’also known with a broader public as ‘lounge’. The need for utter pleasing and quiet dancable music translated earlier in big successes by bands and artists like Air, Kruder & Dorfmeister and Yonderboy.

Lounge has caused a completely new experience in the field of going out, so therefore the style is extremely suited for conversations and diners. In that respect several locations have come into existence in our county where a combination of eating and dancing is easy to make. So the atmosphere is conditional, the music isn’t really fixed on a specific musical source, but is a mix of dance, jazz- and worldmusic. Luckily it is a well-known fact that lounge isn’t just meant to be for people in their thirties or forties. It has become evident that the appeal of this music is so big and broad that a target group is no longer to be definied.

The new album Make Believe from Alex Cortiz is more than a logical successor to Moodfood and again it seems Alex is a step ahead of us. Make Believe is even more complete and mature than Moodfood already was, it contains more funky-, soul- and dance rhythms.

On Make Believe Cortiz is once again assisted by Xavier Perec, one of the most leading lounge dj’s at this moment.

Right now Cortiz and Perec are creating a furore as lounge dj’s. They are also to be heared at several national- and international festivals.
