Andrew Chu
Andrew Chu was getting a musical education even before he was born! His mother was a music teacher, and his father an avid music lover, he has been listening to music for as long as he can remember.
He started his musical training at the age of 6, learning piano from Chan Chai Ha for one year, and then picking up the violin from Fung Ping Nan and Fung Ping Pak. When he entered secondary school, he joined the St. Paul College Orchestra playing second violin, and then become section leader for 3 years. He also sang in the school choir and later joined the famous St. John Cathedral Choir where he sang for 5 years. He later became Choir conductor for Shatin District Board Children's Choir, and City Polytechnic University Choir.
In 1992, he won the championship at the Hong Kong Joint University Song Writing Competition, with the song "True Love" which he wrote and arranged. This was to be his first composition performed in public.
After graduation, he joined Rock records as a marketing planner and later worked in the A&R department. Working with such artists as Beyond and Alex To he developed his skills for music production and song writing.
His first commercial recording was the song "I Really Want To Get Closer To U" sung by famous Hongkong, DJ Gary Ngan He later wrote a second theme to the famous TV drama series "West Play Story" produced by TVB with Dicky Cheung in the starring role. This series was broadcast not only in Hong Kong but also in Taiwan. From there he started to learn the fine art of scoring theme dramatic theme songs.
Another turning point in his musical career is the joining peermusic. He signed an exclusive writing agreement and has 'officially' started his song writing career in Taiwan. He's also hoping to develop his talents worldwide, under the international network of peermusic.
