BACHÁ? You’re probably wondering... What does that mean?

BACHÁ is a duo composed of Juliana Barrios and Jorge Luis Chacín, two talented singer-songwriters.

Before deciding on the colorful "BACHÁ", the band shuffled many names. Among them "La Frontera", "Chasine y Juliana" and "Kilómetro 5". Besides having a joyful and unique sound, BACHÁ fuses the first syllables of its members’ last names, symbolizing their personal and professional union. Juliana is Colombian, single and the youngest of 4 siblings. She has a long and prosperous trajectory as an actress, singer, and songwriter. She belonged to the Colombian music group "Propiedad Pública" and sang popular soap opera themes like "La Otra Mitad Del Sol", "Perro Amor" and "Por Qué Diablos" before joining the band.

The worldwide success of "Perro Amor" encouraged her to move to Miami and explore new horizons. There she became an exclusive composer for Peer Music, for which she wrote and sang various commercial jingles.

As a songwriter, her most recognized work is the female independence hymn "No Hace Falta Un Hombre" interpreted by Jaci Velásquez, which was featured in the soundtrack of "Chasing Papi".

This chain of events led to the birth of BACHÁ.

Jorge Luis -the duo’s other half- is from Maracaibo, Venezuela, and considers himself happily married. He says he is lucky to have a beautiful and intelligent wife and a daughter who takes after her mother.

Jorge Luis started out as a musician, playing the folkloric gaita zuliana. He later joined the bands Carángano and Guaco, and collaborated as a singer, songwriter and producer on five of their most significant albums (including Triceratops, Archipiélago and Amazonas).

His skill as a composer has also received much recognition. Popular Latin singers such as Ricardo Arjona, Gilberto Santa Rosa and Ricardo Montaner have recorded and immortalized his songs. Montaner sang the soap opera themes "La Mujer de Mi Vida", "Para Llorar" and "Bésame" composed by Jorge Luis. This last song, featured in the hit Colombian soap opera "Betty La Fea", climbed to the top of the Billboard charts in the U.S. and other parts of the world.

BACHÁ is the product of the vigorous effort and professionalism of its two members, who by some twist of fate, met one day and became a duo. Their paths crossed while they were both employed by Peer Music, and Julio Bague asked them to co-write a song.

That is how "La Cita" emerged, which later became the first single of their debut album. After recording a demo of the song, they realized that fusing their solo careers and forming a duo was the obvious choice.

Julio Bague and Ramon Arias are BACHÁ’s producers.

The album, which was recorded in Miami under the supervision of executive producer Angel Carrasco, contains 9 songs, which include: "Pensando en Tí", "Dime a Mí", "Jamás Me Olvidé De Ti", "Mi Amor", "Mamá" and "La Cita". The collaboration of composers such as: Juan Carlos Pérez Soto, Pilar Quiroga and Fernando Rojo contribute to the album’s unique sound.

BACHÁ defines its sound as contemporary tropical music, borrowing elements from Jazz, Merenbomba, Cumbia, Flamenco, Salsa, Merengue, Guaguancó, Brazilian and Arabian music.

Although their music is highly energetic and cheerful, Juliana and Jorge Luis emphasize the richness of its lyrical content. Their songs not only inspire people to dance, but also to think. Although some of their songs may be deemed controversial, they are never offensive and can be enjoyed by people of all ages.

"La Cita" is the daring first single that will serve as BACHÁ’s first handshake with its audience.
