Blondfire
Blondfire is the Brazilian/American sibling duo of Bruce and Erica Driscoll. The siblings first gained notoriety with the release of their EP, Don't Whisper Lies, in 2004. The album's lead track, L-L-Love, was featured as a free single of the week on iTunes seeing nearly 300,000 downloads as well as placements in Monster-In-Law, Mozart and the Whale, E!'s Stranded With a Star, and many more. The EP's success led to international tours with Ivy, Stars, and Robbers on High Street.
Blondfire's debut LP, My Someday, is set for release in early 2008. Like the EP, the album is almost completely D.I.Y. which lends itself beautifully to the duo's extremely original, left-of-center, catchy Pop sound. Other people involved in the making of the album include Andy Chase (Ivy/Brookville/Tahiti 80), Dave McCracken (Depeche Mode/Ian Brown), Geoff Sanoff (Secret Machines/Rufus Wainwright), and Scott Hull (Garbage/Paul McCartney).
Because of the Driscoll's international upbringing their songwriting/production/musicianship is extremely versatile and European influenced. Citing influences as diverse as The Beatles, The Smiths, Pet Shop Boys, New Order Astrud Gilberto, Jorge Ben, Caétano Veloso, Burt Bacharach, and The Carpenters.
In addition to Blondfire, Erica co-wrote the Jessica Simpson song B.O.Y. and her voice can be heard on the new Styrofoam album as well as on Brian Vander Ark's (The Verve Pipe) critically acclaimed solo album Resurrection. Bruce lends his keyboard skills to Ivy live and plays guitar in Andy Chase's side project, Brookville. Heavily influenced by guitarists George Harrison and Johnny Marr, Bruce has near-perfected the art of multi-tracking guitar hooks and is somewhat of a 'guitar producer' when called upon to track the instrument.
Stay tuned for more from Blondfire and always remember... "All you need is 'L-L-Love'." - Entertainment Weekly
