Facundo Monti
The second of three sons of the famed Argentinean 60s singer Yaco Monty, Monty began his career at an early age. He made his TV debut in at seven and by the time this accomplished singer, songwriter, and guitarist was 20, he had already signed his first record deal. He released two successful albums in Argentina “Monty,” and “Voy a Dejarte Loca”, and toured with great Latin artists such as Luis Miguel and Ricardo Montaner.
Following the critical acclaim of these recordings, and a stint on Argentine television, Monty came to the attention of peermusic who signed him to an exclusive publishing deal. Monty is a very prolific writer and can compose everything from Pop to Cumbia and Regional Mexican, but it is his love for soul, rock and R&B that inspires him most when writing material for his own solo project.
In 2003, he appeared on the Telemundo hit show “Protagonistas De La Musica” a Spanish-language cross between Big Brother and American Idol. Monty (then going by his full name Facundo Monty) was the only cast member who was not only an amazing vocalist, but also a songwriter and musician and it was this talent that got him as far as the top 5. His appearance on Protagonistas garnered him a solid fan base across the country and he regularly gigs in Los Angeles, Puerto Rico, New York and Miami.
Monty recently completed the production of a full length studio album “Ella,” comprised entirely of his own Latin-flavored soul/R&B material, for which peermusic brought together a “dream team” of producers, co-writers, video directors and photographers. Three of the new tracks were recorded in Atlanta, having been co-written and produced by “Tricky” Stewart of Redzone Entertainment -- best known for his work with artists such as Britney Spears, Mya, Tyresse, Rihanna, Avant, and more recently Paulina Rubio. The remaining 8 tracks were completed in Los Angeles by Grammy-winning producer Gustavo Borner, who has worked with many Latin powerhouses including Diego Torres, Sin Bandera, and Alejandro Fernandez. The music video for Monty’s first single “Ella (Amor a Primera Vista)” was shot in Los Angeles by Sergio Granados of Los Diamante who has directed videos for artists such as Café Tacuba, Julieta Venegas, Molotov, Kinky and Juanes. Finally, to bring Monty’s “look” full circle, photographer Chris Cuffaro, whose portfolio credits include Iggy Pop, Dave Navarro, Morrissey, No Doubt, Incubus, Red Hot Chili Peppers and LL Cool J, was hired to take photos.
Monty will be touring throughout the USA and Puerto Rico to showcase his unique vocal style and incredible ability on the guitar. A recent review in the Miami New Times stated of his performance during the Latin Billboard Conference… “the haunting performance offered by composer/producer Facundo Monty had everybody's attention...Strumming an acoustic guitar, the Argentine-born Monty poured his heart into an emotional set, with a clear yet high-pitched voice -- a performance that shook up a 100-person audience that was crammed into the small club… Maybe next [year] a little more of Monty and less of Rubio would benefit all involved”
