Gianpietro Cazzago, also known as Piero Gemelli, was born in Brescia, Italy on January 23,1958. Right after completing his elementary school studies, he immediately felt a vocation for the guitar, and he started taking lessons with professor Ivo Maletti.

At the tender age of 18, he became the official guitarist of Alan Farrington’s band, and at the same time he started composing songs, and decided to make music his profession.

Thanks to his musical talent, in 1980 Polygram Italy put him under contract as a guitarist to cover Alberto Fortis’ tour to promote his album La Grande Grotta. This tour was a total success and all concerts were filled to capacity. This collaboration of many years produced a new band called Mercenaries, and an album was recorded (I Am Not Russian), produced in Los Angeles in 1983.

After a year, the group came back as Flying Foxes and recorded two albums, one of which was produced in collaboration with R.A.I. (Italian Radio Television) and the label C.G.D. (one of the most important labels in Italy founded by Caterina Caselli). They also produced in 1984 six musical videos for the television program Mister Fantasy.

In 1985 Flying Foxes recorded its second album in London produced by Claudio Fabi and Mike Pila (also producer for songstress Sade). This album had a great success in Germany, both in radio and television. After this success as a member of Flying Foxes, he started his career as solo guitarist and author, collaborating with great artists such as: Eros Ramazzotti, Renato Zero, Mango, Ornela Vanoni, Fausto Leali, Anna Oxa, Gianna Nannini, Laura Pausini, Jaci Velazquez, Jordi, Patty Pravo and Area 305.

At present Piero works at the Gemelli Music Studios as a guitarist, author and arranger, and in July, 2004 he signed an exclusive contract as author and producer with peermusic and Peer-Southern Productions.
