When they first formed La Catrina, the members decided to record some demos and give them to friends and relatives. Fortunately for La Catrina, one of the relatives was Jaime Torragosa, who encouraged them and said that they can make something interesting with their music.

One day while La Catrina was practicing, Jaime invited Juan Carlos, Paz y Puente, and Amir Agay whom were A&R’s of Warner Music México. They listened to La Catrina and stated that they wanted them to be a part of their label. At first, they thought, “that’s what they always say”, but a few months later, they were signed to Warner Music México.

Soon they were on their way to cutting their first record “LA CATRINA”. The album was produced by some big name producers like Juan Ignacio Cuadrado (Celtas Cortos, Pedru Guerra etc…) who produced the tracks: “Clarita”, “Chicote”, “Noche de perros”, and “Tacho el gacho, which was recorded in Spain. Oscar López (Miguel Mateos, Caifanes etc…) who produced the tracks: “Noche Serena”, “El Cajón”, El Fin del Mundo”, “La Catrina” and “Frío”, which were recorded in Miami; and Alejo Stevel (Joaquín Sabina, La Oreja De Van Gogh) produced the tracks: “Milagrios” and “Las Cucarachas” their first single.
