Mari Lauret
Mari Lauret

Cuban-born Mari Lauret began her artistic career as a chorus singer for popular figures in the music world and now she writes for them. For a long time, she was a back-up vocalist for artists such as Chayanne, Camilo Sesto and Jose Luis Rodriguez "El Puma."

She arrived in Miami in 1980 with an academic background in music and experience in composing songs, but her grand debut as a writer was five years ago when Jerry Rivera recorded Solo Tu. Her "clientele" has grown to include Sergio Vargas (Ni Tu, Ni Yo), Tony Vega (Esperare A Que Te Decidas & Hoy) and India (Sola). Sola was included as both a ballad (produced K.C. Porter) and a salsa track on the album and nominated for a Grammy in 1999.
