Milan singer, songwriter and producer Mario Lavezzi took the first steps of his career in the 60s as a member of a legendary Italian band, “I Camaleonti” (The Camaleons). In 1968 he decided to quit the band and dedicate himself to songwriting. Mario has been a successful songwriter, writing hits for some among the most popular Italian singers, like Eros Ramazzotti, Gianni Morandi, Fiorella Mannoia and Loredana Berte. Peer signed Lavezzi in 1989 and since then he has given us songs such as “Insieme a te”, “Per l’eternità” and “Stella Gemella”. Mario has a special touch as a producer, successfully producing Ornella Vanoni’s three last albums. His two successful albums, “Voci” (1991) and “Voci 2” (1993), have crowned a career dominated by music. His third album was released in 1997 through BMG Ricordi and is titled “Voci e chitarre”. Its leit motiv is Mario’s first love, the guitar. All the lyrics were written by Italian lyricist guru Mogol and artists like Bill Champlin, Frank Gambale, Steve Lukather and Ottmar Liebert collaborated to his realisation.
Last year Mario’s album “Senza catene” was released. It is a collection of songs sung with with Ivana Spagna and includes a previous unreleased song. Through the years Mario has produced for many young peer’s artists like Leda Battisti and Roberta Faccani.
“Mentre la notte va” is the last song he composed for Italian superstar Laura Pausini. The album including this track reached the top of the charts in Italy and entered the charts in Germany, Spain and Belgium. It also recently reached number 11 of the European Top 100 album chart.
At the moment Mario is planning to release an album next year that will see Mario sing with all the female artists that he has written for and sung with in the past.
