Mario Pupparo
Mario Pupparo
Born in Santa Fe, Argentina, but a Mexican resident since 1990, Mario learned to know Mexican people very well, and that very particular cultural approach and personal understanding of the local traditions led him to write the most important song of his career so far and Thalia’s biggest international hit: “AMOR A LA MEXICANA”, recorded for EMI Music and produced by Emilio Estefan, Kike Santander and Roberto Blades.

“AMOR A LA MEXICANA” gave also the title to Thalia’s best selling album of 1997 and the song was later released in several countries and recorded in many languages, such as Turkish, Russian, Portuguese, Italian, German and French, as well as on diverse versions and successful “Greatest Hits” compilations around the world.

“AMOR A LA MEXICANA”, an original copyright of Peermusic de México, is now a very famous, worldwide standard of the modern Latin repertoire on its own right and it became an international smash hit with all of Thalia’s different renditions since its first release, the remixes, and most recently, in 2001, the Mexican “Banda” versions.

Other works written and composed by Mario Pupparo, though not necessarily signed all with peermusic, have also been recorded by renowned Hispanic artists, such as the laureate male Spanish singer Raphael (“Persona No Grata”) or the international Mexican pop female success Paulina Rubio (“Pobre Niña Rica”), to name but just a few.
