His career started 9 years ago (1985), at first in the Dutch Hip Hop scene, where he soon became wellknown as D.J. of hiphop crews as Moonrunner, Born Free MC's (with Urban Dance Squad's rapper Rude Boy), Cold 45 Automatic and later on Funky Tribe. For Security Crew and for Born Free MC's, he was also active as producer.

The success increased considerably with the dance act Quadrophonia, with whom he had one of the first actual house hits. A worldwide live tour followed. After this successful period Otto decided to go solo under the namen of D.J. AUTOMATIC.

Soon afterwards he scored a seconds hit with "Open your Mind (Bumrush the Sound)", an expirimental 12-inch under the alias Supermatic. For King Bee (D.J. All Star Fresh) he produced the track "Coldslamming" (both for the Go Bang! label).

For 2 Unlimited he did the following remixes, which had worldwide success: "No Limits", "Tribal Dance", "Magic Friend", "Faces" and "Maximum Overdrive".

Released via Rotterdam Records, he had a hit with "Alles naar de Kloote" - Euromasters, which was the first house record with more than 170 bpm. This was followed by "Dominee Dimitri" - Klootzakken (Kloote Records), which even led to a court case, as Otto sampled statements made by a clergyman, preaching that house music and the devil are one. The Dutch media (printed press, radio and tv) gave extensive reports on this case.

Furthermore, Otto is responsible for "Hooihouse" (Terrordrome), released through Mokum Records and the dance remake of J.J. Cale/Dillinger's "Cocaine" under the name of Soul Patrol (EMI), which was a big hit in Germany.

Apart from his work (mixing of programs) for radio broadcast organisation VPRO, Otto van den Toorn also remixes tracks for Technotronic and King Bee.

Otto is still active as D.J. in clubs, house parties and main events, he is still part of Funky Tribe and he keeps producing for other artists. His own productions are still going strong; Qualitatsschweine is one of the examples.

"Rhythm of Saliva" is one of his other important projects with which Otto manages to distinguish himself and his work from others. He will continue setting pace in the land of dance, house and, who knows, in the future new styles in music....
