Ray St. John
Ray St John signed with Peermusic (UK) back in January 1994 and brought with him much of his back catalogue which includes the hit single 'Smooth Operator' just one of the songs written with Sade. The song also features on the album's 'Diamond Life' and 'Lovers Live' which have both gone multi platinum several times over.
Ray also formed, wrote and produced for his own band 'Halo James' which was a very successful trio. Ray's song 'Could have told you so' reached number three in the U.K and the album ' Witness' went gold which then led to further European success. He then went on to co-write the single 'Because of You' with Gabrielle for her multi platinum debut album. It has then since featured on her very successful greatest hits album which has also sold over four time's platinum.
Ray wrote the lead single 'Mission of love' for Jason Donovan on his 'Mission of Love Tour' He also co-wrote track for 'Worlds Apart' album which sold over 200,000 copies in the first week of release and went straight in the national chart in France at number three. He has worked with another French artist called Louka Kanza and achieved success with their song 'Shadow Dancer'.
Ray had a number one in the Nashville Christian Charts with Tammi Trent, 'My Irreplaceable'. The same song was also a Number one in Ireland for another artist.
Ray has co-written songs with numerous top songwriters in the U.K, U.S.A, Europe and Russia and has had success in Spain, France, Japan, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Mexico and recently went gold with the Pop Idols of Greece. He has recently gone multi platinum with a track called 'Perfect' on the latest Snoop Doggy Dog album 'Rhythm Gangster'.
His song "Smooth Operator" was covered by French artist Laurent Voulzy for his recent album "La Septieme Vague" which went in at No. 1 in the French album chart.
