Robbie Patterson
Robbie Patterson's affinity with music began at an early age. Playing in bands since he was sixteen, Patterson's skills as a songwriter were first recognized when he was with Lazzy Ace, a late ‘80's rock outfit. In 1992 they won the Q107 Homegrown contest for their song "Chooser", a piece written by Patterson. From there he went on to join Bliss, a pop rock four piece, in which Patterson played the bass and wrote songs. He began co-writing with his childhood friend Darrin O'Brien, and that's when the sparks really started to fly. From this re-acquaintance emerged the phenomenon SNOW.
First releasing their material in Japan, it was Patterson co-writes like "Cooler Conditions" and "Icon" that grabbed the attention of the majors and resulted in SNOW's signing with Virgin records and Patterson's present publishing deal with peermusic Canada Ltd. Hard hitting and contemporary, SNOW quickly rose to the top and remains there. Their single "Everybody Wants To Be Like You", a piece co-written by Patterson, was named #1 by MuchMusic in November 2000 and there were many hits to follow.
Patterson's gift as a songwriter lies in his ability to enhance what is already there. An appreciator of the classics, standard song forms are like vessels to Patterson; he fills them with various inspirations, pulling from funk, rock, R&B and pop. Put simply: Patterson songs are hit songs.
