Ruben Marcano
This young Venezuelan songwriter, arranger and producer was born in Maracaibo city, Venezuela on the 12th of August, 1977. At the age of five, he began his musical studies guided by his mother who is a professional musician, first with the violin but soon Ruben switched to guitar and then piano, this is how he joined the Music Conservatory “Jose Luis Paz” in Maracaibo city, at the same time he took harmony and orchestration lesson encouraged by his mother and Professor Andres Sandoval. As a teenager Ruben was already performing with local bands and writing songs for high school festivals so at the age of 13 he had his first appearance on TV, at this point his preference for the pop/ballad and such music styles was already obvious.
After finishing high school in 1996 Ruben moved to Boston, USA to continue his songwriting and music production studies then he moved to Los Angeles to keep learning and gaining some practical experience. When he returned to Venezuela he continued studying on his own so he joined the music school of the famous Venezuelan singer/songwriter Ilan Chester, there Ruben received piano lessons from Cuban pianist Roberto Vazquez who has joined the stage with well known artists like Francisco Cespedes among others.
The work of Ruben focuses mainly on the Pop/Ballad style; he has not only written, arranged and/or produced for artists like Mari Cruz Quintero who is a popular Venezuelan singer and sister of the famous singer/songwriter Frank Quintero but Ruben has also worked with some of the finest Venezuelan musicians and producers like Fernando Valladares and Agustin Espina who has recently produced two songs written by Ruben which are included in the album “Quiero Ser” of the Venezuelan pop singer “Mary”.
Rubén worked actively in the album “Puedo” of the Venezuelan group “Tribal” and he was also a casting jury for the TV Show “Camino a la Fama” in 4 continuing seasons broadcasted by Televén during the years 2004 and 2005.
At present Ruben Marcano lives in Europe, from there he continues working actively in Venezuelan and foreign music productions either as a songwriter, arranger or producer.
