Sui Generis
Sui Generis
The story of Sui Generis starts in 1969. Originally, the band was composed by Charly García (keyboards and lead singer) Nito Mestre (guitar, flute and lead singer), Rolando Fortich (bass), Juan Belia (guitar), Alberto Rodriguez (drums) and Carlos Piégari. In 1970 Sui Generis performed at several avant garde music houses, on a TV channel and got to Mar del Plata (a popular seaside resort beach in Buenos Aires) to perform at the Olimpia Theatre.

The band recorded their first album entitled ¨Vida¨. The official presentation of this album was held at the Opera Theatre in Buenos Aires, in April 1973.

Months later, the band presented ¨Aprendizaje¨ & ¨Bienvenidos al tren¨, the first two cuts of their second album, ¨Confesiones De Invierno¨, with David Lebon & León Gieco as guest musicians.

In 1974 the band started the recording of the third album entitled ¨Pequeñas Anécdotas Sobre Las Instituciones¨. The new album was performed at the Coliseo Theatre.

In 1975, the band started a tour called “PorSuiGieco”, inviting other musicians such as María Rosa Yorio, Raúl Porchetto & León Gieco. As they got back, the band dissolved and offered their last concert show on September 5, 1975 at the Luna Park Stadium summoning 30.000 people. The concert paved the way for the movie: ¨Adios Sui Generis¨ presented in 1976.
