Speaking of Wally Page’s songs Christy Moore was compelled to comment –‘He is one of my favorite singers and I feel I have known him a lifetime. We have done a grand bit of collaborating and he as written good music for some words I have written. He has played fine support for me and I have enjoyed a few good sessions with him.

I am privileged to have received the work of such great writers as Ewan McColl, Jimmy MacCarthy, Wally Page, Pierce Turner, Johnny Mulhearn, Shane McGowan, Johnny Duhan and many, many others. The Writing of a song can be such a very precious act, sometimes laying bare the very essence of a life, and the interpreter carries a big responsibility to the writer. A few times I have inadvertently strayed from the path of the writer’s journey, but as I’ve grown older I’ve understood more’

Eleanor Shanley and Brendan O’Carroll have also recorded Wally Page’s songs. ‘Hey Paddy’ was an Irish chart hit for comedian Brendan O’Carroll. Murphy’s Brewery also used ‘Hey Paddy’ for background music to their TV adverts. Eleanor Shanley recorded ‘Baby’s in blue’ on her debut solo album ‘Eleanor Shanley’ in 1995.

Born in Dublin, Wally Page is a singer and songwriter whose songs are characterized by articulate lyrics and concise intelligent use of imagery and language. Well traveled and schooled in a myriad of contemporary musical styles from Country, Calypso, Eastern and Rock and his Celtic roots. Wally Page’s music covers a wide range of influences. With his articulate, passionate songwriting style and delivery, Wally Page has been likened to legends like Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, and Van Morrison.

Wally Page writes songs that cover every human condition under the sun, from love to hate, and from peace to war. Songs of love, concern, social comment, and biting satire flow from his lips-each one finely wrought, lyrical, and passionate. His venom is directed at those who have no respect for human life, be they South American dictators or Serbian Militia, while his tender side is seen in his tribute to Kurt Cobain and sensitive love songs.
