Los Angeles, CA: August 14, 2006. peermusic, the world’s largest independent music publishing company, announced today that it has acquired the worldwide copyright to all works in the repertoire of the premier Tropical music publishers Caribbean Waves & Crossing Borders Music from Ralph Mercado. These catalogs were once affiliated with the RMM Records Label (since sold to Universal Records), which was the renowned Tropical music label of the late 80’s and 90’s. The Caribbean Waves & Crossing Borders catalogue includes some of the leading Puerto Rican singer-songwriters of the era. Their recordings achieved widespread success in both the music and film world in the United States, Latin America, South America, the Caribbean, Europe and Japan. Peer’s Chairman and CEO, Ralph Peer, II and the founder of these catalogs Ralph Mercado, whose work contributed significantly to the growth of the Tropical genre made the announcement jointly.
Catalog highlights of this acquisition include the hits,“La Voz de La Experiencia” (Celia Cruz & India) , “Me Estan Hablando Del Cielo” (Celia Cruz & Kinito Mendez) “El Ultimo Beso” & “Si Tu No Te Fueras” (Marc Anthony), “Me Canse De Ser La Otra” (India), “Mi Error” (Oscar D’Leon), “Salsumba” (Domingo Quiñones & Tito Puente), “Dale Cara A La Vida” (Tito Nieves) among many others.
