Kenney Shiu Appointed Managing Director of PEERMUSIC (S.E. ASIA)
SAN FRANCISCO, California. peermusic, the world’s largest independent music publishing company, has named Kenney Shiu Managing Director of peermusic’s Hong Kong operations. The announcement was made by peermusic’s Chairman & CEO, Ralph Peer II.
Mr. Shiu joined peermusic in June 2006 as General Manager reporting to Matt Donlevy, Asia Pacific Regional Manager.
Kenney first worked in the music industry as part of the financial team at Rock Music Publishing (HK) Ltd. He then spent 4 years as the Accounting Manager at Warner Music Hong Kong prior to joining peermusic.
As General Manager of peermusic (S.E.Asia), Mr. Shiu acquired certain J.Music repertoire (including cuts by Eason Chan, Jackey Cheung, Leo Ku and Hacken Lee). In 2008, he concluded agreements with local publishers Big Bang Music and J.Music. Peermusic (S.E.Asia)’s current roster includes the 2007 CR2 Best Song Writer Louis Cheung, acclaimed producer/writer Joannes Lam (Jackey Cheung, Eason Chan and Leo Ku) and Clayton Cheung (Leo Ku, Kelly Chan and Aaron Kwok), 2007 Hong Kong Song of the Year writer Bryan Yeung (Leo Ku), 2007 CASH Writer Quest 2nd Runners Up Ah-Mo, up-and-coming songwriter Cousin Fung (Kay Tse, Jade Kwan) and chart-hitting new singer/songwriter Tina Chu (Joey Yung), among others.
Kenney Shiu serves as a Board Member of the Asian Music Publishers Association (AMPS) and as a Council Member of Music Publishers Association of Hong Kong (MPAHK).
